The DSV Pro Cycling team features Gert Heyns, the reigning South African national XCM champion, and Arno du Toit, who placed 3rd at the South African national XCO championships 2018.

Development rider Benino Hans, 17, lives in Oudtshoorn and has already won a number of road (Eden Road & TT) and mountain bike (Red Stone Hill, Oval Track MTB and Stof en Teer races.  Benino is the first rider to come through the LEADout DSV Academy.

The sponsorships complement other investments in cycling and fit into the company’s #DSVActive programme, which promotes healthy living and a work-fitness balance across a range of sporting codes, including cycling, soccer, swimming, golf and running.

The DSV Pro Cycling team is in partnership with Lange Sports, owned by South Africa cycling icon Malcolm Lange, who is looking to build on Gert’s success in 2018, which included the SA cross-country marathon championships (1st); USSA Cycling Championships (1st overall); Knysna Cycle Tour MTB race (1st); Bezhoek Extreme MTB Festival (1st overall); Liberty Winelands MTB Encounter (1st overall); Herald Cycle Tour MTB Race (1st) and the 99er Cycle Tour (1st).

Opening the first half of the season Gert and Arno will race the Attakwas Extreme in January in preparation for the Absa Cape Epic, the largest mountain bike stage race in the world.

Benino is an exciting talent who comes from an area which is passionate about cycling, and DSV has entered into partnership with LEADout Sport, a cycling academy which develops a new generation of talented riders during their junior and under 23 cycling years.

DSV is providing financial support while LEADout Sport will provide coaching, race management and logistical solutions in partnership with their local clubs, and work closely with their schools to ensure academic quality is not compromised. The coaching and racing strategy will seek to create future mountain bike Olympians, and in this way DSV’s social investment in the region will be of a sustainable nature.
