DSV South Africa, a leading supplier of logistics, transport and freight forwarding services in South Africa and Africa, will increase its investment in cycling in 2018 with the launch of DSV Pro Cycling.
DSV Pro Cycling is initially committing to 24-year-old Gert Heyns, a marathon mountain biker. The investment in DSV Pro Cycling complements DSV’s sponsorship of Team Ascendis Health and its DSV active programme including staff and customer cycling.
DSV’s Solutions MD, Johan Dekker, says the company is committed to cycling because it promotes healthy living and provides a growing number of enthusiasts with an ideal work-fitness balance.
“It is a perfect brand association for DSV. With over 600 events on the cycling and mountain bike racing calendar and widespread media coverage, professional bicycle racing is an attractive proposition for DSV. Logistics and supply chains are at the centre of business success, and similarly cycling provides the balance and healthy lifestyle increasingly important in today’s demanding world”.
Malcolm Lange, owner of Lange Sports, says he is excited about the opportunity extended to Gert as he is a “phenomenal athlete with huge potential”.
Lange, an exceptional track rider during a long career in which he won more than 409 races, says Heyns will take part in the main mountain bike events, but unfortunately will not ride the Absa Cape Epic this year.
“We will support this team to enable this young talent to grow and reach his full potential, and possibly do more stage racing with a partner in the future”, added Lange.
Lange Sports is committed to the continued support and growth of South African cycling talent.
“Our teams over the past 10 years have helped develop some exciting young racers. With the support of DSV and our other sponsors, we intend for this to continue through 2018 and beyond”.
